This page explains, in plain language, how affiliate commissions fund the hands-on testing behind our reviews.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions never change a score, a ranking, or a recommendation.
How Affiliate Links Work
When we link to a product on this site, assume the link may be an affiliate link. The link tells the vendor the visit came from us, and if you go on to buy, the vendor pays us a referral commission for the sale.
The price you pay is the same either way. In some cases the link includes a reader discount or coupon, so following it can actually cost you less than going to the vendor directly. The commission comes out of the vendor’s side of the sale, never yours.
Amazon Associates
As an Amazon Associate, The High Tech Society earns from qualifying purchases. This covers any product we link to on Amazon, and it works the same way as the other affiliate links described above.
What This Means for Our Reviews
Affiliate relationships fund the site. They do not steer it. Every product goes through the same process, whether or not there is a commission on the other end:
- We do not accept payment for reviews or rankings.
- We do not publish sponsored articles.
- We test the software ourselves and publish the results, whether or not the vendor has an affiliate program.
- A product with no affiliate program can, and does, outrank products that pay commissions.
Why We Use Affiliate Links
Hands-on testing is not free. Commissions pay for the software licenses, the test devices, and the time behind every review we publish, and they keep the site free to read.
