Transformers Fall of Cybertron for Xbox 360: Game Review

Transformers Fall of Cybertron for Xbox 360: Game Review

My grandson Luke’s 6th birthday was very recent and, you can be sure, there were several video games in his birthday booty. He celebrated with friends at a local bowling alley the weekend before his birthday and with a small immediate family party on the day of his birthday. He got three games as gifts and money and gift certificates enough to buy more. He received Transformers Fall of Cybertron for Xbox 360, The Penguins of Madagascar: Dr. Blowhole Returns for  Kinect, Rush (which is also for the Kinect system) and The Walking Dead Zombie Hunter.

The Ratings Can Be Deceptive

Although Transformers Fall of Cybertron for Xbox 360 is rated “T” for Teen, the game seems to be free from too much graphic violence. It is animated which helps with the blood and guts factor. I don’t think the same can be said for The Walking Dead Zombie Hunter, although I have not yet been privileged enough to see him playing it. Luke has a much older game palate that most 6 year olds and he insisted that The Walking Dead Zombie Hunter was “just what he wanted.” Grandma caved in and some of his birthday money went toward the purchase of that particular video game. With his daddy’s approval, of course.

I did not find anything objectionable in the content when watching Luke play the Transformers Fall of Cybertron game. He may have needed a little extra help to get started, but once he learned all the techniques from watching his father play, he was ready to go. If you have a gamer younger than a teen in your home, and they are fans of the toys or videos, you may find that this will be a good game to add to their collection. While the rating is “T” the younger kids may enjoy it too. To see for yourself, visit Hasbro for a trailer for this game.

The Plot of Transformers Fall of Cybertron

This game finds the Transformers searching for the Ark. The Ark is a ship that is the last transportation from the doomed planet Cybertron. Cybertron is the planet that the Transformers call home. The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime leads them in battle against the Decepticons. The Decepticons follow their leader, Megatron, into battle.

Earthquakes and electrical storms add to the drama as the teams battle over the dwindling supply of Energon, which they all need to live. The last days of Cybertron are rife with death and destruction. It is a sad, sad time.

Decepticon and Autobot Customization

The characters can be customized and each player can design their own Decepticon or Autobot. The customization options include:

  • Armor
  • Loadouts
  • Personality
  • Classes

The armor can be designed to your specifications. You should keep in mind that the chest piece will determine what vehicle your character will transform into. The loadouts gives you options for both primary and secondary weapons, so choose wisely. The personality choices will give you the ability to change the name, voice and colors of your character.

You can choose from four classes for your Transformer. They include:

  • The Infiltrator
  • The Destroyer
  • The Titan
  • The Scientist
