What is TubiTV? Is It Safe?
Tubi TV is an online movie streaming site and app offering ad-supported and ad-free movies and media free of charge. Like hundreds of other websites, Tubi TV makes it possible to quickly and easily stream TV shows and movies directly to your television or from your browser or tablet. But, as you likely know, many similar sites are sharing pirated content. With over 40,000 titles, Tubi TV is one of the largest online streaming sites, and definitely one that you should have your eye on.
However, if you’re looking for a new streaming site, especially a free one, it’s crucial that you do your research, understand the legality of your option, and ensure that you are making the right choice for your needs.
Is Tubi TV Legit?
Tubi TV is thankfully completely legit. The site supports a library of over 40,000 titles, most of which are licensed directly and some of which are provided on a short-term basis to promote for the studio. For example, Paramount licenses 50 films per month to Tubi as part of their licensing agreement.
TubiTV pays for licensing through ads, which are sold to the highest bidder depending on the user.
So, TubiTV is a completely legit site. With 40,000 + titles, it’s also the largest free streaming library out there.
TubiTV offers over 7,000 movies from ShowTime, MGM, and Paramount. While it’s unlikely that you’ll see blockbusters on the streaming service, you will see a lot of different titles – mostly ranging from 10-40+ years old. For example, The Little Shop of Horrors, Death Race 2000, The Shadow Moon, and Dial M for Murder are all on the streaming site. None were intensely popular on release, but a few are actually cult classics. These are set alongside classic and relatively modern TV shows like Roy Rogers, Flash Gordon, The Lone Ranger, and Pride.
Tubi TV Interface
Tubi TV has a well-organized interface both in the app and on the browser website – allowing you to sort and filter content based on genre or search by title. If you log in, you also get custom movie suggestions, a watch later que, and other perks.
It’s generally easy to use, with the only real issue being cursor location when watching films. The site doesn’t show you where it is, so you cannot easily scroll up or down.
What About Quality and Buffering?
TubiTV offers decent quality films but not great. You won’t be seeing anything in HD, and you might have some grain on a larger screen. You’ll also get some buffering, especially when skipping forward, but nothing that you can’t wait out with a bit of time. If you have a poor internet connection, it will get much worse and can become annoying.
Tubi TV uses ads, but not in all films. In most, you can expect to see 3-5 short ads. In some Paramount and MGM titles, there are no ads at all. This is great considering many free and legal movie streaming sites use an overwhelming number of ads in their service.
Tubi TV has a high quality service, a huge library, and only a few hangups. Classic film buffs will love the large collection of cult classics and TV shows, which includes a very diverse range of media. The site has a great deal to offer for most film and TV lowers, especially if you want it to be free.
