Game Release Schedule for March 2013

The game release schedule for March 2013 includes a range of games for Playstation, Wii, Xbox 360, Windows, Mac, 3DS, and more.  The first games of the month are released on March 5th, with 34 individual games being released during the month. Each of the following game release dates includes U.S. dates and times. Release dates for European and other countries may be a few days or even weeks later, or sooner depending on the game’s country of origin.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk

The U.S. Release date for Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk is March 5th, several months after the RPG’s release in Japan in June of 2012. Atelier Ayesha is a popular Japanese anime focused on overcoming sadness as the main character struggles with the loss of her father, and the disappearance of her sister.  The goal of the game is to find the sister and fight depression in an alternate world to the rest of the Arland Saga, but is equally appealing to fans of the genre.

Castlevania : Lords of Shadow _ Mirror of Fate

While the name is a mouthful, the newest release in the Castlevania series is sure to be exciting for anyone who loves the prequels, vampires, or Alucard. The story is set 25 years after Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and reveals the story of Gabriel Belmont’s descendants. Trevor Belmont sets out to avenge his mother’s death at the hands of his faterh, Gabriel Belmont who has become Dracula. The release date for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow _ Mirror of Fate is March 5th.

Major League Baseball 2K13

Another game to be released on March 5th, Major League Baseball 2k13 is a  baseball game simulator licensed for production. Some of the games commentary include Steve Phillips, Gary Rays, and John Kruk. The popular Major League Baseball series feature the ‘million dollar perfect game challenge’ will also be returning for 2K13.

MLB: The Show 

Another Major League Baseball release, MLB: The Show 2013 is set for a March 5th release for Playstation 3 and Playstion Vita. The game follows up on seven previous releases and features Andres McCutchen on the cover. Game features include many options from previous titles including soundtrack, play mode, Co-op mode, and more.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3

Another Japanese game now being released in the United States, Naruto Shippuden is set to be released on March 5th and will feature much of the gameplay options from other Naruto Shippuden titles. Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 includes 80 playable characters, a range of arenas, and new features. One of the major modifications includes that ‘Awakening’ cannot be used more than once per battle, which limits the characters power when low on healthy.

The Sims 3: University Life

There are two Sims game releases scheduled for March 2013, and the first is the Sims 3: University Life. The ninth expansion for Sims 3 will be released on March 5th and includes a range of class activities, social expansions, and learning. From partying to actual study, you can take your Sim through college life. The expansion requires Sims 3 in order to play.


The second Sim release on March 5th 2013 is SimCity. While possibly a play on Frank Miller’s famous comics and subsequent movie, the game can be expected to contain nothing of Miller’s ‘Sin City’.  The game focuses on the planning and building of a city, including terraforming, transportation, and customization. Considerations will include everything from pollution to production, and the game can be played as a multiplayer. To date, SimCity cities can not be used to play with Sims from Sims 3 or other games. The release date for SimCity was originally in February but the date was pushed back to March due to delays.

Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider is set to be released on March 5th and covers the backstory of Lara Croft. The game involves Lara being trapped on an island in the ‘Dragon’s Triangle’ where she and other survivors must fight to find food and to survive the island, and its darker secrets. There will be a multiplayer option in the game, and gamers can expect to use fire, bow and arrow, and other weapons to fight mercenaries and dangerous animals.

Gods of War: Ascension

A PS3 title to be released on March 12, Gods of War: Ascension is the seventh installment in the Gods of War series. The game will function as a prequel to the entire series and works around protagonist Kratos as he attempts to break free of Ares. The game is loosely based on Greek Mythology and will appeal to fans of the game series, and to fans of mythology and action/adventure games on the Playstation.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory was released in Japan on August 30 2012. The U.S. release date is March 12th of 2013. The game is the third installment in the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise and is a direct sequel to Hyperdimension Neptunia II. The anime based game follows Neptune as she is caught and sent to another dimension existing in 1989. In similar news, an anime based on the game could be airing in summer of 2013, although a release date has not yet been announced.

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is on the game release schedule for March 2012 as March 12th. Ghost Warrior 2 follows Cole Anderson around the world and will include multiplayer options. Ghost Warrior 2 also contains slightly more fighting options than many first person shooters including stealth attacks, hand to hand, and sniper combat. Ghost Warrior 2 was originally scheduled for release in August of 2012 but was delayed for 6 months.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm

This Windows and Mac release is scheduled for March 12th and will include the long awaited expansion to Starcraft II. The game features 20 added missions, an additional 7 multiplayer units, and takes place in 2056, 2 years after the previous game. Players will take the role of Sarah Kerrigan, who was returned to her human state in the game. The expansion is set to be priced at $39.99 for the standard version and $79.99 for the collector’s edition.

Lego City Undercover

Lego City Undercover will be released on March 18th and follows undercover cop Chase on his hunt for criminals. Gameplay is something of a blend between Grand Theft Auto and Super Mario Brothers but does focus on ‘the good guys’ rather than the player taking part as the car thief or murderer. Lego City Undercover is currently only slated for a Nintendo Wii U release.

The Croods: Prehistoric Party

This upcoming video game release is based on an upcoming movie known as The Croods which will be released on March 22nd. The video game will be released on March 19th and will be available for Nintendo gamestations. The Croods: Prehistoric Party features 30 party style mini games using Croods family members.

Gears of War: Judgment

A followup to the ever popular Gears of War series, Judgment is scheduled for a March 19th release. As the fourth installment to Gears of War, Judgment includes multiple new characters as well as previously used characters, two new multiplayer roles. The game will be available for Xbox 360.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

Another Nintendo game release, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is set to be released in the United States more than two years after its initial release in Japan on March 19th. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is one of the highest rated games in the series and one of the best rated games in its genre. The game reintroduces popular features such as underwater gameplay, as well as a few new functions including new weapon abilities, and a new rank known as G-rank.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted

The Wii release date for Need for Speed: Most Wanted is March 19th. The open world racing game was released for other consoles in October of 2012 and received favorable reviews and was awarded the title of ‘Best Racing Game’. Players might find the game to be more similar to ‘Burnout Paradise’ than other Need for Speed titles.

The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct

Roughly based on the popular the Walking Dead TV series (Which is based on Robert Kirkmans comic series), The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will be released on March 19th. The game is a first person shooter and follows Daryl and Merle Dixon as they fight their way to Atlanta. The game is a prequel to the TV series and likely focuses on Daryl because he is currently the most popular character from the TV series. Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker are playing their Walking Dead TV series parts in the game. The Wii release date for Survival Instinct is March 26th.

Trials Evolution: Gold Edition

The March 21 release of the Trials Evolution: Gold Edition is a Windows followup to the April 2012 release of Trials Evolution for Xbox 360. The game focuses on motorcycle racing with objectives including faster racing, fewer crashes, and the ability to compete with other players in real time. Trials Evolution also includes a game editor that allows players to tweak and edit the game as they see fit.

Dead or Alive Plus 5

Dead or Alive Plus 5 is a Playstation Vita release for March 22nd. The game features an expanding pack from Dead or Alive Plus 5, which is an anime based fighting game from Team Ninja. Dead or Alive Plus 5 also features guest characters from Sega’s Virtua Fighter, which makes the game appealing across game developers.  Currently Dead or Alive Plus 5 is available for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Resident Evil 6

Another release in the popular Resident Evil Franchise, #6 will be available for purchase on March 22nd in the United States. The game allows you to play three different scenarios, all of which connect and each will follow three main protagonists who all eventually interact. Game modes include single player with computer controlled partners, multi-player, and online gameplay. After completing the three game scenarios, a fourth bonus scenario is unlocked with a new character.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

The release date for Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is March 24th. The game is very similar to the original ‘Luigi’s Mansion’ and focuses on Luigi as he is sent through a time portal by Professor E. Gadd to explore mansions and capture ghosts. The game is slightly more puzzle oriented than the original. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity

Gates to Infinity was released in November of 2012 in Japan and is set for a March 24 release date in the United States. The game focuses on Unova pokemon and 3D art as well as augmented reality options including scanning objects to unlock dungeons. The plot is very similar to Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and begins with the main character having a dream and waking as a Pokemon. Starting Pokemon include Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, Pikachu, and Axew.

Army of Two: The Devils Cartel

Army of Two: The Devils Cartel is set for the 26th on the game release schedule for March 2013. The Devils Cartel is a third person shooter and follows two new players named Alpha and Bravo. The plot works out on the streets of Mexico as players face Mexican gang members and drugs as they fight a ruthless cartel.

BioShock Infinite

BioShock Infinite will be released on March 26th for Windows, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game is the third installment in the Bioshock series and has already received a ‘best of show’ award pre-release. The game is set in the floating city of Columbia and follows protagonist Booker de Witt. Considering that its predecessors are often considered to be two of the best games ever made, most gaming fans should pre-order or consider waiting a few months until the game is back in stock after initial release. Final Fantasy Xi: Seekers of Adoulon

The expansion pack Seekers of Adoulon for Final Fantasy XI will be released on March 26th of 2013. The expansion to the original game includes two new jobs and a variety of extra functions. The expansion is available for Windows and Xbox 360 but the expansion has also been released for Playstation 2 in Japan, but will be the last game ever for PS2.

Pandoras Tower

Pandoras Tower will be released on March 26th for Wii. The action RPG was released in Japan on May 26th and around the world in 2012, but is just now coming to the United States. Pandoras Tower follows character Aeron as he travels in an attempt to break a curse. There are multiple endings, all of which are pivotally influenced by Aerons relationship with Elena.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14

A March 26 release for PS3 and Xbox 360, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 is a golf simulation game featuring legendary golfing tournaments starting in the 1930s and running to present day. There will be 20 standard included courses with a range of conditions that affect gameplay, as well as five new courses, 15 original courses, 6 historical competitions, and 18 downloadable courses. The game will feature over 25 golfing greats including a few newcomers.

Company of Heroes 2

Company of Heroes 2 will be released on March 31st 2013. The game is a real time strategy game and includes a great deal of improvements over its already popular predecessor. New weather options, better visibility, and better graphics have garnered the pre-release game a steady stream of positive attention with most stating that it is better than the original Company of Heroes.

Lost Planet 3

Another March 31st game release, Lost Planet 3 is the prequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions. The game takes place on the same world but is an ice age rather than tropical area. The story follows the human colonists including Jim Peyton as they mine the planet. NEVEC is not yet an antagonist but becomes so as Peyton unravels their dark secrets.


Already available for other gaming platforms, the racing game Dyad will be released for Windows on March 31st. Dyad is a racing puzzle game which uses combos and meters to allow players to get from one enemy to the next and proceed with the game. While not extremely well known, Dyad received relatively good reviews around the world.

Jane Jenson’s Mobius

Another Windows game release for March 31st, Jane Jenson’s Mobius is a graphic adventure game following Malachi Rector who is an antiques dealer who investigates events for a billionaire. The game is a thriller type similar to the Gabriel Knight series.

Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded

Another point and click graphic adventure game, Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded will be available on March 31st for all gaming platforms. The game is a remake of the 1987 Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards which follows Larry as he tries to ‘get lucky’ despite his bad luck with women. The developer suggests that he is remaking the entire game and making it better in hopes that the formerly mostly pirated game will become a selling success.

Metro: Last Night

The final game on the game release schedule for March 2012 is Metro: Last Night, a post-apocalyptic first person shooter and survival game. Metro: Last Night is the sequel to Metro: 2033 and was originally titled Metro: 2034, but was renamed due to a book of the same name being released. This is one of the only games this year to focus on single player mode, making it an excellent choice for lone game players.
