Call of Duty: Black Ops II Map Pack 1 Revolution

Revolution was the first DLC map pack release for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It included one weapon, four regular play maps, one Zombies co-op mode map and one mode for Zombies. The release of this map pack took place on February 28, 2013 for PS3 users. For Xbox users, the map pack was released on January 29, 2013. In this article you will be provided with a breakdown of each map and some tips/tricks to help you come out on top.  The Peacekeeper SMG is the weapon for this map pack. It is one of the favorites in the entire game due to its accuracy and strength. You can find other Call of Duty Black Ops II map pack tips and tricks here.

Grind

Grind

Grind is set at a skate park in Venice Beach, California. There are two buildings in which you can hide in when score streaks are delivered. The center skate ramp and skate shop offers a large playing area for combat and the locker room is a small space to duck into.

Outside the buildings there are several ramps that you can run up for a better view of the map to snipe or pick off your opponents. Along one side of the map is a grandstand area where spectators would watch competitions. This is the ideal place to hide. You can get all the way up to the top row and lay down on them. This is also leads to a side entrance to the indoor skate park and skate shop.

Downhill

Downhill

Downhill is essentially a ski resort and is set in the Rhone-Alps of France. There are a few buildings to hide out in, such as equipment shops, the ski lift area and a ski lodge. With this map, there are several optimal sniping points, such as the balcony of the ski lodge and out the window in the ski lift area. Since the players’ clothing matches the snow, it’s easy to run by an enemy without noticing them. In the rear of the map are several inflatables, which act as a great hiding place for sniping as well.

If you’re a sniper, the tactics for this map are simple, just pick a corner. Those that run and gun, always watch your mini-map if you are playing regular Team Deathmatch. It is so easy to end up with an enemy behind you in this map. For those that play hardcore, try to keep your background noise down to listen for footsteps in your general area. When in the ski lift building, remember to stay away from the moving ski lifts because they will kill you. You cannot lay under them either; this will result in a suicide. A lot of gunners run flak jacket, so it is best to remember where you lay your tactical equipment (claymores, shock charges and bouncing Betties) and check that location when you are notified that they have been destroyed.

Hydro

Hydro

This map is a water filtration/purification company on the Indus River in Pakistan. There aren’t too many places to hide but there are combat grounds both above and below the surface. You can go into the water underground for battle. Most of the gameplay takes place at the spawn points, outer edges and underground. Sections one and two along the side of the map see a lot of combat. There are two walkways that you can go up on to snipe across the map.

With Hydro, it is important to get out of the water when you hear an announcement and see a red flashing light underground. The flood waters will wash you away resulting in a suicide. Stay off of the edges of this map because the water can trip you up and you can fall into no man’s land.

Mirage

Mirage

Mirage was once a luxurious resort in the Gobi Desert. This map is rather large for 12 players. Along with the others in Revolution, it has a lot of hiding spots. The center building is not used much for combat. Most of the combat takes place in the swimming pool area and outer edges. There is a bus along the back side that is slightly under a valet parking area where snipers like to hide. The second bus, further back is another great sniping spot since you can get on top of it by climbing the wall next to it.

Over near the swimming pool area there is a rooftop that you can get onto. The arch wall leading to the sniping point can also be climbed onto by using the right corner to jump up and run over to hide under the treetop. Near the gazebo, behind the sniping point, there is another out building. You cannot get inside the building but can climb on the first section of rooftop to lie down and snipe. This is more of a sniper’s map than a gunner’s map.

Die Rise and Turned

Die Rise

This part of the map pack is for Zombies mode players. Each has achievements with points that are awarded for items such as high maintenance, shafted and slippery when undead. The map scenery sets it in Shanghai, China. Die Rise starts off a little slow until more zombies come out of the openings and up from the ground. You have to watch though; they can drop from above you through some ceiling holes. As you explore the map, you’ll need to find hints to complete objectives.

In Turned, you can become the zombie. This tends to fake out others playing with you. The idea here is to play using reverse gun game where you start with the strongest weapon and end with the weakest to gain more points, achievements and take out more zombies.

A tip for Zombies players is to stab zombies from behind. It is easier to take them down. Also, aim for the chest when shooting.

Revolution got players excited about Black Ops II again. The initial release of the game was in November 2012 so after three months of playing, it was time for something new. Treyarch quickly fixed glitches and hacks so that players could not get into walls or floors to cheat. The only thing they didn’t fix was the ability to use an aim bot, which is a cheat to get hit markers and kills without having to actually aim. This does nothing for gamers since it shows nothing for actual skill.
